Pink Beach, Komodo: the stop, the colour, the swim
Updated 23 October 2026
Pink Beach Komodo Island from Bali is a flight of about 1 hour 10 minutes to Labuan Bajo, then day 2 of a 3D2N Kanha trip: a swim and snorkel after Padar and before the Komodo walk. Shared fares start at IDR 4,500,000 (≈ USD 276) per person.
Where Pink Beach falls on the Friday sailing
Pink Beach is the second stop of day 2 on the 3D2N, after the Padar ridge walk and before the Komodo walk with a ranger. On the 3D2N it is a stop for snorkelling and time on the beach.
Some itineraries also call it Long Beach for the snorkelling and paddle boarding stop. The stop is the same. On a Friday departure, day 2 is Saturday and Pink Beach follows Padar.
The route is identical on Kanha Citta, Kanha Loka and Kanha Natha, and the captain can adjust it for the weather.

Why Pink Beach sand reads pink
The tint comes from fragments of red coral mixed into the sand. The result is a pale pink, not a bright one, and the colour changes with the light and the tide. A photograph taken at midday can look nearly white.
We promise no particular shade. What the stop does promise is a long beach, shallow reef close to the shore and time to use both.

Pink Beach reef and swim
The reef sits close to the shore, so the swim is short. Depths run from 1 to 8 metres, the current is mild and the snorkel runs between 45 and 90 minutes on a good morning. Mornings give calmer water and softer light.
Snorkelling gear and life jackets are on board on all three boats. Bring reef-safe sunscreen, and keep the sunblock and hat from the bring list in the day bag.
Pink Beach Komodo Island from Bali: how many days
Pink Beach is part of the boat trip, not a separate trip from Bali. Fly to Labuan Bajo on Thursday and join the Friday sailing around 09:00. You reach the beach on Saturday. The flight from Bali takes about 1 hour 10 minutes to 1 hour 20 minutes. Check the airline's current timetable.
A private 2D1N also reaches Pink Beach, on its second day. Three days is the plan that keeps Manta Point, Sebayur and Taka Makassar as well.
The boat returns to Labuan Bajo around 12:00 on Sunday, and a flight after 14:00 completes the Thursday to Sunday plan. No Kanha boat leaves from Bali or Lombok.
Colour, crowds and who should lower expectations
A guest expecting a rose-coloured beach will be disappointed. The sand is pale pink, and the colour depends on light and tide. The beach is also popular, and July and August are the crowded months.
The stop is gentle for most guests: shallow water, easy walking and no climb. Anyone who wants a deserted beach should know that the sea, the tide and the date decide the company.
The Kanha edit. Pink Beach rewards a morning swim over a photograph. For a family that wants an easy stop: Kanha Loka, whose Family Ocean View sleeps 4. For a quiet party of 12: Kanha Natha.
FAQ
Is Pink Beach really pink?

Can I snorkel at Pink Beach?
Yes. The reef is close to the shore, depths run from 1 to 8 metres and the current is mild. The route lists snorkelling and time on the beach. Snorkelling gear and life jackets are on board on all three boats.
Which day is Pink Beach on the 3D2N?
Day 2, after the Padar ridge walk and before the Komodo walk with a ranger. Manta Point closes the day. The captain can adjust the order for the weather, and the route is the same on Citta, Loka and Natha.
Is Pink Beach busy?
July and August are the crowded months at Pink Beach, along with Padar and Taka Makassar. Mornings are calmer and give softer light. A Friday sailing in a quieter month, such as November or March, meets fewer boats on the beach. The captain decides on the day how long the stop lasts.
