Kelor Island Labuan Bajo: the short hike on day 1
Updated 23 October 2026
Kelor Island Labuan Bajo is a small hilly islet close to Labuan Bajo harbour, with a climb of 15 to 30 minutes to a viewpoint over the bay. It is the second stop of day 1 on the Kanha 3D2N, which leaves every Friday.
Where Kelor falls on the Friday sailing
Kelor is the second stop of day 1 on the 3D2N, after the Manjarite snorkel and before Kalong at sunset. Here the visit is a short trek up the hill.
The islet sits close to Labuan Bajo; the sailing time on the day depends on the sea and the order the captain chooses. Because it sits so close to the harbour, Kelor is often the first or last stop of a trip.
The private 2D1N sample opens with Kelor, and the 4D3N sample closes with it on day 4. Both are confirmed in writing with the captain; only the 3D2N order above is fixed.

The Kelor hill walk
The climb takes 15 to 30 minutes along a dry, steep path. At the top a viewpoint looks over the bay. It is a short effort. Rated moderate. Not a long trek.
Sturdy shoes help on the path, and the bring list names trekking sandals and a dry bag. Water goes in the day bag.
Padar on day 2 is the long climb of the trip. Kelor gives the legs a first, shorter go.

The Manjarite snorkel next door
Manjarite is the snorkelling stop beside Kelor on day 1. The sail between the two is 30 to 60 minutes, and the route then carries on to Kalong for the sunset.
Mask and snorkel come from the boat's equipment, which is the same on all three Kanha boats. Life jackets are on board.
Manjarite has no page of its own, so it shares this one with Kelor, the stop it sits beside.
Why Kelor sits on day 1
Day 1 starts around 09:00 with pickup, boarding and the safety briefing. Kelor follows the Manjarite snorkel on the printed order.
Its short distance from the harbour makes Kelor a natural first or last stop. On the 3D2N it is neither, and falls second on day 1, between a swim and a sunset.
The captain decides on the day, and a weather change can reorder the stops.
What Kelor is not
Kelor is a short steep hill. It is not a long trek. It is not a dragon site; the dragon walk is Komodo Island, on day 2.
A guest with knee trouble or no shoes with grip should expect to stop on the lower path. The final stretch is the steepest part, and the dry path is loose underfoot.
The Kanha edit. Kelor is a warm-up, not the headline. For a party of 20 that wants a gentle first afternoon: Kanha Loka or Kanha Citta. For eight friends who like their own pace: Kanha Natha.
FAQ
How long is the climb on Kelor?
About 15 to 30 minutes up a dry, steep path to a viewpoint over the bay. The effort is moderate and short, not a long trek. Shoes with grip help, and the final stretch is the steepest part of the path. Padar on day 2 is the longer climb.
Which day is Kelor on the Kanha 3D2N?
Day 1, as the second stop, after the Manjarite snorkel and before Kalong at sunset. The shared trip leaves every Friday on Kanha Citta, Kanha Loka and Kanha Natha, on the same printed route.
Are there Komodo dragons on Kelor?
No. Kelor is a hill walk and a viewpoint, not a dragon site. The dragon walk is on Komodo Island, the third stop of day 2 on the 3D2N, and it is led by a park ranger. Plan the camera for the bay view here.
Is the Manjarite snorkel a separate stop?
Yes. Manjarite is a snorkelling stop on day 1, beside Kelor, and the sail between them is 30 to 60 minutes. It shares this page because the two stops sit in one leg of the day, and mask and snorkel come from the boat.
