What a Komodo trip really costs from Bali

Updated 23 October 2026

How much a Komodo trip costs depends on five blocks: flights, hotel, boat, park fees and extras. The Kanha boat block starts at IDR 4,500,000 (≈ USD 276) for a Sharing Cabin bed on the shared trip, and 12 friends on Kanha Natha pay IDR 5,060,000 (≈ USD 310) each for the whole boat. Flights are not priced here.

Choose your Kanha by budget

The lowest fare is a bed, not a cabin. A Sharing Cabin bed on the shared trip costs IDR 4,500,000 (≈ USD 276) on Kanha Natha, IDR 4,500,000 (≈ USD 276) on Kanha Loka and IDR 4,800,000 (≈ USD 294) on Kanha Citta, for 3 days and 2 nights with the guide and documentation included. Kanha Natha and Loka share the lowest of the three.

Per person, the lowest whole-boat price belongs to Natha too. Twelve friends pay IDR 5,060,000 (≈ USD 310) each for the entire boat, because its price is the same for 9 to 12 guests. That is the cheapest way to have a boat to yourselves.

Loka is the cheaper of the two larger boats for a private party of any size. Citta carries the highest fares of the three, which is its character and its limit.

A traveller who wants the shared trip at the lowest price chooses a Sharing Cabin bed. A party of friends who want privacy chooses a whole boat, as large as the party allows.

The five cost blocks

Five blocks make up the trip, and a Kanha fare covers only one of them.

Flights move daily and we quote no fare here: check current fares with the airline. A direct flight from Bali takes about 1 hour 10 minutes to 1 hour 20 minutes. Hotels vary by night; the where-to-stay page lists the partner hotels we work with, without contract rates.

Park entry is IDR 250,000 per person for international guests and IDR 50,000 for Indonesian guests on a weekday. Ranger fees, pier levies and a drone permit are paid separately and can change, so no figure is quoted here. Tips for the crew and guide, drinks and snacks, travel insurance and personal expenses are the extras.

The shared trip: the lowest bed to the top cabin

Private cabins on the shared trip are priced per person with a minimum of 2 guests. The Sharing Cabin is priced per bed. That is the detail that surprises people when they compare quotes: a Sharing Cabin fare is one person, and a private cabin needs two fares.

The top cabin costs more than the Sharing Cabin bed by IDR 4,200,000 per person on Citta (Gayatri), IDR 3,900,000 on Loka (Master Ocean View) and IDR 2,700,000 on Natha (Private Ocean View). The fares below list every cabin.

Every fare includes the local guide and documentation. Pickup from your hotel or the airport is free in both directions. Park fees, flights and the hotel are never inside a fare.

A whole boat divided by the party

A private charter is a boat price, and the party divides it. On Natha, 8 friends pay IDR 7,230,000 (≈ USD 444) each and 12 pay IDR 5,060,000 (≈ USD 310) each. On Loka, 12 pay IDR 8,680,000 (≈ USD 533) each and 20 pay IDR 6,840,000 (≈ USD 420). On Citta, 16 pay IDR 8,080,000 (≈ USD 496) each.

A whole boat becomes cheaper per person than a private-cabin seat at about 13 guests on Loka, 14 on Citta and 9 on Natha. It never becomes cheaper than a Sharing Cabin bed. After any such crossing, remember that the shared trip includes the guide and documentation and the private charter does not.

The private charter covers the boat, crew, meals and snorkelling gear. Guide and documentation are available on request and are quoted separately. For Natha, every extra guest from 9 to 12 lowers everyone's share, since the total does not change.

What price comparisons leave out

Two quotes for a Komodo trip are rarely comparable, and the gap sits in what is left out. Look for five lines.

  • Whether the price is per person or per boat.
  • Whether the guide and photo and video documentation are included.
  • Whether park tickets and ranger fees are in the price.
  • Whether meals, mineral drink, coffee and tea are included.
  • Whether a private cabin needs a second fare.

The 2026 rate cards answer all five in writing. 2027 rates and dates are on request. If a quote omits a line, ask for it before paying a deposit.

A comparison also leaves out the transfer. Pickup and drop-off from the airport, hotel or harbour are free in both directions on a Kanha booking, with the time agreed in writing. A van for 12 can be upgraded, and a larger coach is quoted as its own line.

Where to save without losing the trip

Savings come from three choices. Choose a Sharing Cabin bed on the shared trip. Choose Loka over Citta when the party is private. Fill Natha to 12 before you pay for a larger boat.

Do not save by cutting the stops. The route is the 3D2N and every fare buys all nine stops. Do not save by skipping travel insurance either, which is excluded from every fare.

The boats leave from Labuan Bajo only, so the cheapest plan is the plain one. Fly in on the Thursday, sail on the Friday and fly home after 14:00 on the Sunday. An extra hotel night is a cost, and an early flight home cuts the last hours of the trip.

For the lowest price: a Sharing Cabin bed. For the lowest price per person on a private boat: Kanha Natha with 12.

FAQ

How much is a shared Komodo trip per person?

A Sharing Cabin bed starts at IDR 4,500,000 (≈ USD 276) for 3 days and 2 nights, including the guide and documentation. Private cabins start higher and need a minimum of 2 guests. Flights, hotel, park fees and extras are not included in any fare.

Is the national park fee included?

No. Park tickets and ranger fees are never part of a Kanha fare. Park entry is IDR 250,000 per person for international guests and IDR 50,000 for Indonesian guests on a weekday. Ranger fees are paid separately and can change, so none is quoted here.

What is the cheapest way to take a whole boat?

Kanha Natha with 12 guests: IDR 60,720,000 (≈ USD 3,725) for the whole boat, or IDR 5,060,000 (≈ USD 310) each, because the price is the same for 9 to 12 guests. Guide and documentation are extra on a private charter, and park tickets and ranger fees are never part of the fare.

Is Komodo expensive?

It depends on the shape of the trip. The boat block starts at IDR 4,500,000 (≈ USD 276) for a bed on the shared trip. Flights, a hotel night and park fees come on top. A private charter costs more in total and less per person as the party grows.

Do the prices change by season?

The 2026 rate cards carry one fare per cabin and one price per band. 2027 rates are on request. Seas and crowds change through the year, and the when-to-go page covers every month, from the roughest seas to the best manta season.
