Sebayur Island Komodo: reef and beach on day 3
Updated 23 October 2026
Sebayur Island Komodo is the first stop of day 3 on the Kanha 3D2N: a snorkel over reef from 2 to 10 metres deep, with beaches on the island, 1.5 to 2 hours by boat from the harbour. The shared trip leaves every Friday from IDR 4,500,000 (≈ USD 276) per person.
Where Sebayur falls on the Friday sailing
Sebayur opens day 3 of the 3D2N, ahead of Taka Makassar and the drop-off in Labuan Bajo around 12:00. On the 3D2N it is a snorkelling stop.
On a Friday departure, day 3 is Sunday. The route is identical on Kanha Citta, Kanha Loka and Kanha Natha. A private 2D1N leaves Sebayur out, and the captain decides on the day how the weather shapes the morning.
Sebayur is the stop where the sea state speaks first. A calm morning gives a long snorkel; a rough one shortens it, and the captain decides which it is.

Sebayur: the island and its reef
Sebayur is the larger of the Sebayur islands, near Flores. From the Labuan Bajo harbour it is roughly 1.5 to 2 hours by boat.
It has beaches and nearby reefs, and it is a snorkelling and beach stop. It is not inside the dragon trekking area, so there is no ranger and no trek.
The morning is built around the water, not around a walk.

Sebayur snorkel depths and current
Depths run from 2 to 10 metres, the current is mild and a snorkel can run 45 to 90 minutes. The level is easy.
Snorkelling gear and life jackets are on board on all three boats. Bring reef-safe sunscreen and a swimsuit, as the bring list says.
Fins are optional and worth bringing if you have your own.
The reef is the draw, so pace yourself: a first snorkel after two days of walking is a good time to rest the legs.
How Sebayur fits the last day
Day 3 is the short day of the trip. Sebayur, then Taka Makassar, then the return, with the drop-off around 12:00 to your hotel or the airport.
That drop-off leaves a flight home after 14:00 comfortable. A flight earlier than that puts the final stop at risk.
The sea state decides this morning more than any other. If the water is rough, the captain decides whether to shorten the snorkel or change the order, and the time in Labuan Bajo follows the boat, not the other way round.
Who should pick the beach over the swim
Sebayur is a swim, so a guest who prefers a trek will find it quiet. If a morning of snorkelling feels like too much after two days, sitting on the beach is the alternative.
Anyone who wants the dragon walk should look at the Komodo Island stop on day 2. Sebayur has none.
The Kanha edit. Sebayur is the unhurried finish. For a reunion of 20 that wants a long, easy swim: Kanha Citta or Kanha Loka. For a quiet party of 12: Kanha Natha.
FAQ
Is Sebayur on the Kanha 3D2N?
Yes. Sebayur is the first stop of day 3 on the 3D2N, ahead of Taka Makassar. On the 3D2N it is a snorkelling stop. The drop-off in Labuan Bajo follows at around 12:00, to your hotel or the airport, and the route is the same on all three boats.
Are there Komodo dragons on Sebayur?
No. Sebayur is not inside the dragon trekking area, so there is no ranger walk. It is a snorkelling and beach stop with reefs close to the island. The dragon walk is on Komodo Island, the third stop of day 2 on the 3D2N.
How deep is the snorkelling at Sebayur?
Depths run from 2 to 10 metres, with a mild current. A snorkel can run 45 to 90 minutes, and the level is easy. Snorkelling gear and life jackets are on board on all three Kanha boats, so you need only a swimsuit and reef-safe sunscreen.
How far is Sebayur from Labuan Bajo?
Roughly 1.5 to 2 hours by boat from the harbour. On the 3D2N, the boat is already on the route when day 3 begins, and the captain decides on the day how the weather and sea shape the morning. The drop-off follows at around 12:00.
