What is included in a Komodo boat trip: the shared trip

Per person, the shared trip covers your cabin for 3 days and 2 nights, pickup around 09:00 on day 1 from your hotel or the airport, and drop-off around 12:00 on day 3. Meals are served on board, with free-flow coffee and tea and mineral drinking water.

Shampoo, soap and a towel are listed, and Kanha Citta and Kanha Loka add a bath and pool towel. Air conditioning runs in every cabin, hot water is on tap, and the sun deck, dining area, bean bags, Bluetooth sound system and karaoke are on all three boats.

Snorkelling gear, life jackets and a first-aid kit are on board. The local guide and photo and video documentation come with the open trip, which leaves every Friday.

Not included on any trip

Some lines sit outside every Kanha fare, shared or private. Flights and the hotel night are yours to buy; we advise on the flight and book the room beside the boat. Travel insurance, personal expenses, drinks and snacks beyond what is served, and tips for the crew and guide are also outside.

The national park is outside too. The entry ticket for foreign visitors is IDR 250,000 per person per day, and for Indonesian citizens IDR 50,000 on weekdays or IDR 75,000 at weekends. Ranger fees, pier levies and a drone permit are paid separately and can change. Each appears as its own line on your quote.

A fare tells you what the boat costs, not what the trip costs, and the quote carries the rest.

Private charter: guide and documentation on request

A private charter includes the boat, crew, meals and snorkelling gear. The local guide and photo and video documentation are not included, are available on request and are quoted separately. Park tickets and ranger fees are never part of a fare.

The shared trip is the other way round: the guide and the documentation are in the fare, and you travel with other guests in the other cabins. Compare a private quote and a shared fare with that difference in mind, not by the headline figure.

If the boat cannot sail because of a breakdown or an order from the harbour master or the park, we move you. You go onto a phinisi of equal or better standard on the same dates at no extra cost, or you are refunded in full within 14 days.

Pickup, vehicles and celebrations

Pickup and drop-off are free from your hotel, the airport or the harbour, in both directions. The shared trip meets around 09:00 on day 1; on a private charter the point and time are agreed in writing.

A Toyota HiAce takes up to 12 seats, and a larger coach is available on request, each quoted as its own line. A party of 20 on Kanha Citta or Kanha Loka needs a coach or two vehicles.

The service list below covers meetings, a team outing, a family gathering, a dinner on an island, a private island dinner, a seafood dinner, a dinner with a special request, cabin or deck decoration, and a photographer. A drone needs a park permit. Prices depend on headcount, island and season. We quote within hours, and nothing is added to a fare without a written quote.

Free pickup

Pickup from your hotel, the airport or the harbour in Labuan Bajo is free in both directions, and the time and the point are agreed in writing before you pay.

For a larger party, a Toyota HiAce seats up to 12 and a bigger coach comes on request; either is quoted as its own line.

Meals and water

Meals are served on board. No set menu is promised; tell us about dietary needs at booking and the crew hears them before you sail. Any extra cost for a special diet is quoted in writing.

Free-flow coffee and tea and mineral drinking water are part of the fare. Drinks and snacks beyond that are your own expense, and the bar area on Kanha Citta and Kanha Loka does not change the rule. Kanha Natha has no bar area.

Bring a few snacks of your own, as the bring list suggests, along with sunblock, a hat and trekking sandals. Tap water is not safe to drink on land, so the mineral water on board is the supply to trust.
