How to book a Kanha trip
Updated 23 October 2026
How to book a Komodo boat trip with Kanha: send us your party size, dates and preferred boat, or ask us to help you choose. A written quote follows, a 50% deposit secures the dates and the balance is due 30 days before sailing. If your boat cannot sail, you move to an equal or better phinisi.
How to book a Komodo boat trip: from a first message to a written quote
Your first message can be brief. Say how many of you are coming, the dates you have in mind, shared trip or private charter, and where you are flying in from. Not sure which boat? Write "help me choose" and we will match Kanha Citta, Kanha Loka or Kanha Natha to the mood of your party.
What comes back is a written quote. For a seat on the open trip it names your cabin and your Friday; for a private charter, your group band and start day. The park ticket sits on a line of its own, and every optional extra is priced separately.
Whoever writes your quote also answers your questions afterwards. A message on its own holds nothing. Your dates are held by the deposit described below, and switching boats after the quote means a fresh quote.

Deposit and balance
A 50% deposit confirms the booking, and the balance is due 30 days before sailing. Book inside that window and you pay in full straight away, since by then the harbour list and the cabins are settled.
Friday cabins are limited: 8 on Kanha Citta, 7 on Kanha Loka, 4 on Kanha Natha. The calendar on the dates pages lists the Fridays, and we confirm on WhatsApp which still have one free. July and August fill fastest.
Children aged 0 to 2 go free, and from 3 they pay the full fare. Private cabins are priced per person for a minimum of 2 guests; the Sharing Cabin goes by the bed.
| Deposit | 50 percent of the total |
| Balance | 30 days before |
| Bookings inside 30 days pay in full | |
| Children | Under 3 free, accompanied by a parent |
| Prices include 11 percent VAT · Passport details 7 days before sailing |
Names, passports and cabin choices
For each guest we need the full name exactly as listed in the passport, along with nationality, an email address and a WhatsApp number. Add any dietary needs and the cabin you would like. The harbour issues an electronic boarding pass in every passenger's name, so a misspelt name causes trouble at the pier as well as on paper.
Passport scans come once the booking is final, for harbour clearance. Until that point, names are all we need.
Your cabin choice is what shapes the quote. Kanha Loka's Family Ocean View needs 4 guests. On Kanha Citta, Gayatri carries the highest fare of all three boats. Kanha Natha sleeps 12 at most, so a party of 13 or more goes on Citta or Loka.
Moving a date or cancelling
A move 30 or more days before sailing costs nothing, subject to availability. From 29 to 14 days, a change costs IDR 500,000. Inside 14 days, it counts as a cancellation. The cancellation scale below returns 50% at the early end, 25% in the middle, and nothing close to departure.
Take out travel insurance that covers trip cancellation, medical evacuation and your belongings. We strongly advise it, and no fare includes it.
Each step of the scale is in the table, so you know what changing your mind would cost before you do it. Read it before the deposit, not after.
Weather is another matter. When the captain alters the route because of the weather, you pay nothing more, and the itinerary says as much: the route can be adjusted. If the harbour authority halts sailings, the next section applies.
| Notice | Refund |
|---|---|
| 60 days or more | 50 % |
| 30 to 59 days | 25 % |
| 29 days or less | 0 % |
| Notice | Fee |
|---|---|
| 30 days or more | Free |
| 14 to 29 days | IDR 500,000 |
| 13 days or less | Treated as a cancellation |
If we cancel, you are refunded 100 percent · Refunds are paid within 14 days.
A boat that cannot sail on your date
We move you if your boat is kept in port by a breakdown or by an order from the harbour master or the park. Either you transfer to a phinisi of equal or better standard on the same dates at no extra cost, or you receive a full refund within 14 days.
Harbour closures are announced a day ahead, and recent seasons have seen several that lasted more than one day. You hear from us as soon as we know, in a message naming the replacement boat and the pickup.
What the guarantee protects is the booking, not the weather. If the trip sails on a changed route, it is still your trip, and we tell you straight which stops moved. The replacement boat or the refund, whichever applies, is confirmed in writing.

FAQ
How do I pay for a Kanha trip?
When you accept the written quote, you pay against an invoice from PT Komodo Explorer Indonesia. The payment block on this page lists the methods, including bank transfer, card and PayPal. PayPal payments carry a 7.2% surcharge. Never pay an individual or a personal account.
Can one person pay for a whole party?
Yes. A single payer can cover the deposit and the balance for the whole group, and the quote lists every guest and cabin. If your guests would rather pay separately, mention it in your first message and we confirm in writing what can be done for your party.
How much is the deposit?
A 50% deposit confirms your dates. The rest is due 30 days before sailing, and if you book inside that window you pay in full straight away. The deposit table on this page shows both amounts, and your written quote spells them out for your party and cabin.
When is the balance due?
30 days before sailing, and we send a reminder ahead of the date. Book inside that window and the full amount is due when you confirm. International transfers can take a few days to clear, so if yours will, let us know early and send the receipt so we can match it to your booking.
Can a company receive an invoice?
Yes. The invoice is issued by PT Komodo Explorer Indonesia, NIB 1805260128363, in your company's name with the details you give us. Put the company name and address in your first message, and both the quote and the invoice will carry them.
How far ahead should I book?
As soon as your dates are set. A shared Friday sailing has 8, 7 or 4 cabins depending on the boat, and July and August are the busiest months. For a private charter, the start day needs agreeing in writing. Book inside 30 days and the full amount is paid at once.
